We work alongside trusted agencies throughout Region 8 who are ready to support you in your journey. We encourage you to explore the options available and choose the organization that best aligns with your values and goals.

While THRU Project is not a child placing agency (CPA), the Heart Gallery of South Central Texas serves as your go-to resource hub for learning how to become licensed for foster-to-adopt.

What is a Child Placing Agency (CPA)?

Child Placing Agency is a private foster and/or adoption agency that partners with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) to:

  • Train and verify foster and adoptive parents
  • Match children in DFPS conservatorship with loving families
  • Provide support and services throughout the placement process

These agencies typically offer services at minimal cost to families who foster or adopt children in state care.

Join an Information Session

To learn more about the requirements for becoming a verified foster parent or approved adoptive parent, we invite you to attend one of our Fostering Communities Information Sessions:

  • 2nd & 3rd Tuesday of the Month from 6:00-7:30PM– Virtual Sessions
  • 4th Tuesday of the Month from 6:00-7:30PM – In-Person Sessions

 

These sessions offer detailed information about local CPAs and their licensing processes and give you the opportunity to connect directly with representatives who can answer your questions.

Child Placement Agencies

THRU Project is not a child placing agency, but the Heart Gallery is your one-stop resource hub to learn more about how to become licensed for foster-to-adopt! Any of the organizations below can support you in your journey to becoming licensed. We recommend that you research the options available throughout our region and select the organization that best meets your needs.

Resources and Support Agencies

The following agencies provide services for families and individuals who have lived experience in the foster care system at no cost.

Roy Maas Youth Alternatives (RMYA) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit agency providing comprehensive residential care and counseling services to children needing a safe place to live.

  • Psychiatric and medical case management services. 
  • Specialized behavioral and mental health support for families and youth. 
  • Staff training in trauma-informed care (TBRI). 

SJRC Texas is dedicated to building resilient families and fostering safe, nurturing environments for vulnerable children. With a focus on family preservation and child well-being, the nonprofit delivers a comprehensive suite of evidence-based services, including therapeutic care, community-based support, and in-home interventions.

Texas Grandparents Raising Grandchildren (TXGRG) is a Texas-based nonprofit organization focused on supporting “grandfamilies”—households where grandparents or relatives are raising children instead of the parents.

TXGRG exists to advocate for and empower grandparents raising grandchildren by providing access to:

  • Resources
  • Education
  • Community support
  • Advocacy at the policy level

Divinity Family Services is a 501(c) (3) non-profit child placing agency dedicated to providing HOPE and HEALING to children who have been REMOVED and PLACED in foster CARE.​Divinity formed in 2009 from a collaboration of ideas of several service-oriented members of the Texas Hill Country with a desire to serve local children who were victims of abuse and neglect.

As the number of children REMOVED from destructive environments continued to rise, it became clear that a faith-based agency with a passion to serve was needed to bring HOPE and HEALING to children and families.

Artvango Therapeutic Services, Inc., is a 501(c) 3 non-profit committed to uplifting and healing children affected by the cycle of abuse, poverty and trauma through the use of expressive therapies and caregiver involvement. Artvango works to increase the accessibility of expressive therapy to strengthen personal awareness, to nurture healing, and to help clients feel safe, heard, and cared for while facing life’s challenges. Our focus is serving children in foster care, those adopted, and children who have experienced hardship in their young lives.
