About
THRU Project exists to support young adults who have experienced foster care as they move into adulthood, without losing connection, stability, or hope.
Our Mission
Support that stays.
Aging out of foster care doesn’t mean life suddenly gets easier. It means more responsibility, more pressure, and fewer safety nets. We’re here to change that.
Our mission:
to provide consistent support, real opportunities, and a community that shows up, so young adults can build independent, meaningful lives on their own terms.
Not rescue.
Not control.
Support that stays.
Why we exist
Because adulthood shouldn’t be a free fall.
For many young people, adulthood comes with built-in support, family to call, couches to crash on, and guidance when things go sideways.
For young adults who have experienced foster care, that support often disappears all at once.
THRU Project exists to fill that gap, not with quick fixes, but with long-term relationships, stability, and trust.
We believe:
• No one should have to figure life out alone
• Support should grow with you, not disappear
• Independence doesn’t mean isolation
Our Programs
Built for real life, not a checklist.
Everything we do is designed around one question:
What actually helps young adults move forward?
That’s why our programs focus on:
Housing
Safe, stable places to live that match where you are in your journey toward independence.
Mentorship
Consistent adults who listen, guide, and stay connected, long after the paperwork ends.
Career & Life Skills
Job readiness, education pathways, and real-world skills that lead to long-term stability.
Everyday Support
Transportation, technology, and short-term help during moments when life gets overwhelming.
No one-size-fits-all solutions.
Just support that adapts as you grow.
Our Impact
Stability creates momentum.
When support is consistent, everything changes.
Young adults in the THRU Project experience:
• Increased housing stability
• Stronger confidence and independence
• Clearer career and education paths
• Improved mental and emotional well-being
• A sense of belonging and community
Success doesn’t happen overnight, but it happens faster when someone believes in you and stays.
Youth Action Board
Youth voices lead the way.
THRU Project is not built for young people; it’s built with them.
The Youth Action Board ensures that young adults with lived experience help shape programs, decisions, and the future of our work.
Their insight keeps us honest.
Their leadership keeps us relevant.
Their voices matter, here.
Our Staff
We show up, and we stay.
Our staff members are mentors, advocates, listeners, and problem-solvers.
But more than anything, we’re consistent.
We answer calls.
We keep showing up.
We build trust over time.
Because real support isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about being there.
Careers
Work that matters.
If you believe in showing up, building trust, and supporting young adults through real-life challenges, THRU Project may be the place for you.
We’re always looking for people who care deeply and stay committed.
